Indexing content is the first step in implementing any Coveo-powered search and relevance solution. During this process, your Optimizely's CMS content types are translated into Coveo items that are stored in a source within your Coveo organization. Coveo offers several generic connectors to facilitate this process: Web, Sitemap, and GraphQL. Indexing involves more than just gathering all your content. Having Optimizely's CMS metadata indexed to populate Coveo fields enables you to configure powerful search interface controls and display meaningful search results to your users.

• Index Optimizely's CMS Content: Use the generic GraphQL API source, which is particularly suitable for Optimizely Graph endpoints, to optimize your indexing strategy. This approach ensures that you not only collect but also effectively utilize your content for enhanced search experiences.
• Browse your Content: Inspect items that are indexed within your Coveo organization using the Content Browser. The Content Browser allows you to filter and search for specific content, view the properties and permissions of each item, and perform various actions on those items.

You must define the extension in your Coveo organization, and then apply it to one or more sources. When items are processed in the pipeline, your extension is applied at the pre-conversion or post-conversion stage.
