Optimizely CEO Alex Atzberger Honored as Tech Executive of the Year
Gold Stevie® Award Win comes after a year of immense growth, innovation and industry recognitions for the digital experience platform leader
NEW YORK – May 20, 2024 – Optimizely CEO Alex Atzberger has been named the Tech Executive of the Year in the 22nd Annual American Business Awards®. Judges awarded the Gold Stevie® to Alex for his role in Optimizely’s impressive growth, its recent industry recognitions and his willingness to experiment with AI – for both internal processes and within the Optimizely platform itself.
Since joining Optimizely as CEO in 2019, Alex has strategically guided Optimizely through a multi-year M&A gameplan, executing five acquisitions over five years that transformed the company's offerings. Recognizing the potential of integrated tech solutions, Alex delivered a first-of-its-kind, all-in-one marketing operating system – Optimizely One in October 2023. Optimizely One’s groundbreaking platform leverages AI to provide marketers with advanced experimentation and content creation capabilities through a unified workflow.
Since the Optimizely One launch, Alex has continued to elevate Optimizely's standing in the market. In the last 6 months alone, the industry has recognized Optimizely's excellence across its product offering with notable achievements, including being named:
- A Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Digital Experience Platforms, Q4 2023
- A Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Experience Platforms
- A Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Content Marketing Platforms
- A Leader in The Forrester Wave™: B2B Commerce Solutions, Q2 2024
- In the Leaders Category of the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Enterprise B2B Digital Commerce Applications 2023–2024
Alex’s leadership has also driven immense growth for the company. Earlier this month, Optimizely announced that it had surpassed $400 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) after experiencing four consecutive quarters of double-digit growth – all despite economic turbulence. Further proving Alex’s vision, a remarkable 52% of Optimizely’s ARR is attributed to multi-product customers as brands select Optimizely One to consolidate martech stacks in an effort to improve total cost of ownership.
“I am very humbled to have been named Tech Executive of the Year. It certainly would not have been possible without the entire organization’s hard work over the last 5 years. To them, I am very grateful,” said Atzberger. “The real opportunity is ahead of us to innovate and grow with our customers as the first operating system for marketing. I look forward to continuing to lead our incredible team on our mission to make the lives of marketers better.”
More than 3,700 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories. Over 300 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.
